Sorry for the delay in posting. The laptop was in repair with the IT dept and I couldn't be bothered to go to the home computer.
Yes I did start the treatment today. I got to the hospital about 6:15. It was very quiet - reception and shop closed. But I have a bar code to check myself in, it even gives an estimate of the current delay - about 10mins. So I sat down in the waiting area by my expected machine. After a few minutes the same radiographer as yesterday came up to me and asked me round to the other machine. It seems the normal machine has not yet been fixed. As I waited again someone else came and introduced himself and told me to wait for another minute. Then another one came and said hello and then led me round to the machine. All three of them then seemed to be ready to treat me. The first thing to sort out was that tomorrow's session is to change again because of the breakdown. That's now at 5:30 instead of the morning. It might be on the other machine, but they're not sure if it will be repaired by then. We had a bit of discussion about what was going to happen and how.
So, down to the actual treatment. They had the mould that was made 2 weeks ago which they put on the bed for me to lie on. They were very pleased as I seemed to lie down pretty straight right away. Looking up at the ceiling as I lie down there are some pictures looking up into a tree in blossom, takes your mind off things I suppose. They checked the alignment with some lasers, then there was a bit of fine adjustment of the bed back and forth a bit. They then put the big round head over me and went out of the room. The head moved around a bit and buzzed for a few seconds which was when it was doing the treatment, apparently they took a few pictures as well - otherwise I didn't feel a thing. One of the radiographers came back in and moved the head underneath. He went out again and it buzzed again for a few seconds, I still didn't feel anything. That was it then, I was in for about 20 minutes, the actual treatment was a matter of seconds.
